Cool park to walk around. The tower is open every full moon and has amazing views!
One of only 7 standpipe water towers left in the USA. (3 are actually here in St. Louis.) Tours on the full moon, and Saturdays. ($5)
This is a smaller park, but has everything. Swings, a play ground, tennis court, fountain, and reflecting pond. After enjoying what is below, you can walk up to the walls of the reservoir and enjoy views of the city. On the North East corner, you can spy one of my favorite views of the STL Arch.
Less than a mile away (1.4 km), with a running trail and playground. Also take tours of the iconic water tower (one of just 7 like it in the US!) on scheduled Saturdays and during full moons.
Compton Hill Reservoir Park is a 36-acre public park that includes the Compton Hill Water Tower and The Naked Truth statue. The water tower was built in 1898 and is one of only seven remaining standpipe water towers in the United States. The tower is open the first Saturday of each month and during Full Moons. Cost is $5 and you can climb to the top of the tower (198 steps) for a spectacular 360-degree view of St Louis. The Naked Truth Statue was quite controversial in its day and was a gift to St. Louis by the German-American Alliance in 1914. 4.4 miles
