The whole area is very scenic. Using the ferry is convenient, relaxing and gives one the holiday feel. The ferry travels in all weathers. And even if the weather is boisterous, one does not get motion sickness. The ferry also connects travelers with two areas - the Kohukohu side and the Rawene side. The one side is called The Narrows - this is the Kohukohu side. And on the other bank is Rawene, the historic town of quaint, colourful houses, petrol station, laundromat, eating places, incredible scenery, and more.

The ferry runs on the hour (except at peak times when it runs when full). The last ferry back to Rawene is at 8:00!
