An inexpensive way to get from Cancun airport to the Tulum ruins or go to the bus terminal in town. Takes around 2 hours and costs around $10

If you are coming to Tulum from Cancun Int'l Airport without wanting to rent a car; then take ADO bus. There might be connection in Playa del Carmen. The bus is inexpensive mode of public transportation, air-con and comfortable but will take time.
