Riga Town Hall Square very historic and charming! Gorgeous architecture and excellent place for people watching! You can make some really great pictures specially when sun goes down. Bucket list pickture for your Instagram #gorgeous #Riga :)
The renaissance building in this square was the headquarters of the BlackHeads Guild, a fraternity of German trades men in the middle ages. The original building, which was from the 1400s, was completely destroyed during WWII. With Latvia's ind., the building was recreated from photographs and documents. The knight statue, in the middle of the square, is called Rolands. This statue was a symbol that the city of Riga abides by Saxon Laws. Such statues were common in cities of the Germanic Holy Roman Empire and the Hansa League; they were an expression of the privileges given to the city. The black Soviet cube was built for Lenin's 100th birthday and will soon house the new Occupation Museum.

Town Hall Square is the place where 500 years ago the city Christmas-tree was lit :) This is one of the must sees of Old Town because of architecture, live music performances during the summer and very merry atmosphere during the Christmas holidays.
