Nice place to visit for a day walk (need a car though). Make sure to visit Hanging Rock too.

The forested slopes of Mount Macedon can be seen from virtually every corner of the region, even Melbourne. Mount Macedon village sits approximately 615 metres above sea level, while further up on the summit you will reach 1001 metres elevation. The mountain is a wonderland of heritage gardens, mansions and wild bushscapes of eucalyptus, pine and tall mountain ash, housing native wildlife. It’s a paradise for those who love nature, stunning gardens and outdoor activities.

We are very lucky in the Macedon Ranges to have beautiful walks through nature for a range of abilities and fitness levels. Refer to guide book for tracks, a personal favourite is the Bawden Road / Douglas Road to Macedon Memorial Cross - however it is quite challenging.
