Every thursday there is a big cheesemarket. You can see how it was sold in earlier days! With horses they bring all the cheese to the market where the cheese is trade. It starts at 10 am and ends at 13:00

This is one of the best known and most eaten cheeses in the world. The cheese market nowadays mainly has a tourist function. The Gouda cheese market is organized every Thursday on Thursdays from the first Thursday of April to the last Thursday of August from 10:00 to 13:00. There is no cheese market on Ascension Day. In good weather, the event at the Markt attracts many visitors. The traditional cheese market takes place every Thursday morning from 10.00 to 12.30 hrs, during the period from 4 April to 29 August (except on Ascension Day, 30 May). As in past times, the farmers and traders seal their bargains for the best cheeses through clapping hands.
