The Ellen Trout Zoo is a small zoo founded by Walter Trout in 1967 and located in Lufkin, Texas, United States. The zoo gets about 150,000 visitors a year. It is currently owned and operated by the City of Lufkin, with Friends of Ellen Trout Zoo supporting it with funding for major expansion and renovation projects in the Zoo's master plan. great local zoo with two parks, a walking trail, a miniature train ride, and low cost admission. Zoo has giraffes, lions, tigers, hippos, all kinds of reptiles, etc.

Lufkin's little zoo, also has a great walking trail around the lake.

The Ellen Trout Zoo has just recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary! And “it all started with a hippo”. I mean, what do you do when someone gives you a hippo???? You open a zoo! This is one of the most lovely zoos you will ever visit! Highly recommended!

Enjoy a great experience at the Lufkin Ellen Trout Zoo. The zoo host a number of animals, such as Hippos, giraffes, and big cats. "Be sure and take a train ride around the zoo."
