An easy beautiful trail, with opportunities to see wildlife grazing near the lake. A local favorite located just inside Denali National Park.

Front Country - Denali National Park and Preserve A popular trail that descends to, and travels entirely around, a lake. It begins with a short, steep uphill to a bench overlooking the lake. The trail then descends 250' steeply to the shore of the lake. The trail grade averages 5% with sections up to 20%. The trailhead is located on the Denali Park Road, at Mile 1. This is where the Alaska Railroad crosses the park road, and there is a small parking lot adjacent to the trailhead. You can also park at the Denali Visitor Center (Mile 1.5 of the park road) and walk either the Bike Path or the Taiga Trail to reach the Horseshoe Lake Trail.
