Tolle Architektur, Künstler, Günstige Konzerte und Theaterstücke von Studenten und Studentinnen. 1223 begannen die Franziskaner mit der Errichtung dieser Klosteranlage. Nach der Reformation diente das Katharinenstift zunächst als Armenhaus, später auch Waisenhaus, Zuchthaus und Lazarett. Heute beherbergt das St. Katharinenstift die Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock. Beispielgebend wurde das Gebäudeensemble des 13. und 14. Jahrhunderts saniert und mit modernen Bauten ergänzt.

The HMT (highschool for music and theatre) is a great place to enjoy culture, music and theatre made by young students. They often have classic concerts in their big concert hall and impressing theatre plays. It's not too expensive or even for free sometimes. Besides the cultural program - the HMT is a definitely worth a visit. It's an old convent, a very beautiful building. And the atmosphere there is special through all the music and theatre students that walk around there!
